CHIMES OF FREEDOM. CELEBRATING 50 YEARS OF AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL

To celebrate Amnesty International's 50th birthday they've released a 4 disc compilation of Bob Dylan covers from artists like Gaslight Anthem, Flogging Molly, Silversun Pickups, My Chemical Romance, and so many more.  Every purchase of the album goes to Amnesty International to fight for human rights in over 150 countries.

Why Bob Dylan you ask? Because the same year Amnesty International came into existence (1962), Bob Dylan released his first album. Knowledge is power. Or at least an answer to a game of Trivial Pursuit. Go show off that tidbit of info to your best hipster friend.

Artist to Check Out: Emperor X

Emperor X , or really just Chad Matheny, has an interesting story. Chad Matheny was a high school science teacher going for his master's degree when he decided to start the unique blend of alternative-pop known as Emperor X. Matheny's one man gigs are a bit quirky themselves, showing up at train stations, playgrounds, and bookstores. The gigs got attention from NPR and music blogs and magazines from around the country, eventually landing him a contract with Bar None Records. Check out Emperor X's song "Canada Day" below, off the new album Morning Teleport, out now.
