My name is Amy Rice and I'm awesome. During my shift, I play the latest alternative rock mixed in with a little bit of 70's classic rock. I'm a senior here at Appalachian majoring in Child Development with a concentration in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. I'm engaged to my United States Marine and the love of my life, Drew Turfa <3. The best music is alternative rock and classic rock (Led Zeppelin all the way baby!!). I'm a die hard sports fan. The teams that own my heart are the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons, Philadelphia Flyers, and when it comes to Nascar, it's Tony Stewart!! I'm not a vampire lover, but my favorite television show is True Blood (love you Eric Northman...hehe) and a close second is South Park. Being here at the radio station has been a great experience for me and I have enjoyed every minute of it.
Tim Tebow. Natural talents or acts of God? After a weak start to the 2011 football season, the Denver Broncos looked like they had no chance of having a winning season. University of Florida graduate and Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow, came in and brought new life onto the "Mile High Stadium." Tim Tebow is most known for his strong Christian faith and acts of goodness. But are there religious reasons for him being 7-2 after starting in the 5th week of the 2011 football season? Some people say yes and some people say no. On December, 11 2011, the Denver Broncos made a fantastic comeback against the Chicago Bears from being down 10-0 with 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter and winning 13-10 in overtime. Magic happens in the 4th quarter for Tebow and the rest of the Denver Broncos. He completes passes, his offense protects him, and the defense steps it up a notch. But since that win, people are claiming that God is allowing Tim Tebow to win games and having their opposing teams lose. Others, including myself, believe that Tim Tebow's faith in God makes him do better by believing in himself and his team to win games. He has been ridiculed for having a strong Christian background and being open about his belief in God. But let me ask you this. Would you rather have yourself and/or your children look up to a quarterback for his belief in God, his team, and his fans or a quarterback that has been sent to jail or has been exposing himself to women? Think about next time before you decide to judge. Oh...and here are some parting words; "Hug it, chuck it, FOOTBALL!!"
